How It Works
Buy wine, support a cause!
VCC is an online wine marketplace created to help nonprofit organizations raise money while at the same time celebrating the world’s greatest artisan winemakers. We aspire to tell the stories and share the wines of small family and boutique wineries, and to help nonprofit organizations raise funds to support their mission-critical efforts in our communities.
Below is information for both nonprofit organizations and wine drinkers about how VCC works. There are two options to buy wine and support your favorite cause: through our online wine store and through wine club memberships. Online Wine Store:
- VCC offers an online wine store at www.charityvintner.org/store offering the artisan wines from our ever-growing list of Vintner Partners across the country. 10% of the total sale from each online store sale (excluding tax and shipping) will be donated to the charity of the customer’s choice.
- Here’s how to buy wine and support your favorite cause:
- Selecting wine: Go to the store from the homepage, select wines by searching by type, price, style, ratings/awards or bottles on sale. Make your wine selections and put them in your shopping cart.
- Picking your charity: Just prior to submitting your credit card information for payment, select the nonprofit organization you want your donation to be directed to from the pull-down list. If you don’t see your charity, enter their information in the box on that page. We’ll research it and let you know if the organization is approved. The process usually takes 24-48 hours. You will receive an email from VCC either way.
- Shipping: The wines from the store are shipped directly from the winery so if you buy bottles or cases from multiple wineries, you’ll receive several shipments. For more information, click on the Shipping Policies tab above.
- Tracking: As soon as you complete your online order, you will receive a confirmation email from VCC for your full purchase. When your wines ship, you will receive a confirmation email directly from the winery with tracking information and further details about your order. - Ship to states: To find out where VCC ships, please click on the Shipping Policies tab above.
- Tax cost: Tax costs range from state to state and can range from 4-12%. Tax is calculated at the time of purchase.
- Shipping cost: $15.00 per order plus $2.00 per bottle for orders less than 12 bottles. For orders of 12 or more, it's just $2.50 per bottle - no $15.00 fee charged. That means, shipping costs are nearly the same for 12 bottles as 7 bottles ($30 vs. $29) so buying more saves and gets more money for your charity!
- Payment: Visa, Mastercard and American Express accepted.
- Tax-deduction: Please note that payments for wine are not tax-deductible.
- Purchase Example:
- Chappellet 2008 Napa Valley Chardonnay: 2 bottles at $35.00 each totals $70.00
- Judd's Hill 2006 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon: 1 bottle at $49.00
- Total order: $119.00 (excluding tax and shipping)
- Shipping: $21.00: $15.00 per order plus $6.00 ($2.00 X 3 bottles)
- Tax: Calculated based on where you want the wine shipped; ranging from 4-12% of the total wine cost.
- Total sale: $140.00 (excluding tax)
- Donation to your charity: $11.90 (10% of the total wine sale, excluding tax and shipping)

Wine Club Membership:
- VCC offers semi-annual wine club at www.charityvintner.org/club offering the artisan wines from our ever-growing list of Vintner Partners across the country. 25% of the total sale from each club shipment (excluding tax and shipping) will be donated to the charity of the customer’s choice.
- Here is a snap-shot of the wine club:
- Price: $175.00 maximum per shipment, excluding tax and shipping.
- Wine: 2-6 bottles of family-owned, boutique wine from artisan producers across the country.
- Shipments: Twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
- Ship to states: To find out where VCC ships, please click on the Shipping Policies tab above.
- Tax and shipping costs: Depending on your state, wine sales tax is between 4% and 12%, and shipping ranges between $10.00 and $62.00 per shipment. For more information, click on the Shipping Policies tab above.
- Vineyards: Hand-selected and varies with each shipment so you receive an ever-changing variety of great wine.
- Payment: Visa, Mastercard and American Express accepted.
- Credit cards: Charged at the time of club sign-up for the first shipment and then about two weeks before a next shipment for subsequent offerings.
- Cancellation: Cancel at any time by logging into your personal account.
- Tax-deduction: Please note that membership in this wine club and payments for wine are not tax-deductible.
- As soon as you complete your online order for the club, you will receive a confirmation email from VCC. Just prior to a club shipment, you will receive a reminder email from VCC and a second email directly from the winery with tracking information and further details about your order.

How Can a Charity Participate?
Virtually any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in the United States can participate. VCC’s only exception is the following:
When customers purchase wine at www.charityvintner.org, they will choose an organization from the pull-down list of verified nonprofits at checkout. If your charity is not in the list, add the information in the text box just prior to submitting payment for your order. VCC will not verify a nonprofit organization until an order has been placed requesting support for that organization. VCC will verify the information and email you a response, usually within 24-48 hours. If the charity is to be verified, you must submit the following information:
Charity Name
Charity U.S. Address (including street, city, state and zip code, no P.O. Box)
Charity Telephone and Website address
Charity Contact Name, Title and Email address
Charity Employer Identification Number (EIN)
